Why They Called Makespace
Hindman Settlement School was making quite an impact in their region, but their old website didn’t reflect that. It was disorganized and some parts weren’t even functional. They needed a way to showcase the programs they offered while bringing a fresh twist to the story of their heritage.

We created a website that was easy to navigate and clearly organized, with special callouts for programs and thoughtful links. And since Hindman Settlement School serves Central Appalachia through generous donations, we made it easy for people to find the programs they wanted to support and make a contribution.
Interactive Timeline
Hindman Settlement School exists in a region overflowing with stories, and it was built on a rich history dating back to 1899. We created a beautiful and easy way to showcase the city and the school’s major milestones.
Events Calendar
The school hosts a huge range of activities, and we wanted to give guests an easy and efficient way to see what events were on the horizon, filtered based on interest. And since each event can be linked to a program, we made planning a weekend retreat in the mountains is a snap.
